The Department of Pathology was established on 30th of March 1963. Dr. T. N. Mehrotra, the founder professor and head of the department, left no stone unturned and laboured with his devoted team of Dr. V.S.Rajvanshi, Dr.S.C. Gupta (Prestigious Dr. B.C. Roy Awardee) and Dr.S.R.Pandey to make it reach the summit it is at now. Initially it was a joint department of Pathology and Microbiology. Dr. Mamta Singh and Dr. PA Singh strived hard to make this department the best in UP. The present faculty comprises of 3 Professors – Dr.Vatsala Misra (Head of Department), Dr.Kachnar Varma, Dr. Anshul

Singh, 2 Associate – Dr.Pallavi Singh , Dr.Varsha Kumar and 7 Assistant Professors – Dr.Poornima Mishra, Dr.Akanksha Singh, Dr.Divya Singh, Dr.Neha Sharma, Dr Shveta, Dr.Aparajita, Dr.Rajeshwari.

The University of Allahabad permitted department to start training of post-graduate students in 1965. The M.D. (Pathology) degree was recognised by Medical council of India in 1968. The ﬁrst candidate for M.D. was Dr. S.R. Pande and for D.C.P was Dr. K.K. Kapoor. Six Seats for Senior Residency introduced in 2021. The number of PG seats has increased from 5 to 8 since session 2021.
