The Legacy of the Pharmacology Department at MLN Medical College

In the tapestry of time, the Pharmacology department at MLN Medical College unfolded its petals in 1963, a vision brought to life by the luminary Internationally renowned pharmacologist, Dr. B.N. Dhawan. (Founder, professor and head, later appointed as director at CDRI). Amaestro, crafting the inception of the Indian Pharmacological Society.

The mantle of leadership then passed through the capable hands of Dr. S.S. Mishra, who later adorned the seat of the Public Service Commission and then by Dr. S.K. Bapat, (Principal MLB,Medical College Jhansi and MLN Medical College, Allahabad). There journey led to the zenith as the Director General of Medical Education UP.

Dr. Vimal Chand Saxena, a trailblazer, emerged as the inaugural postgraduate amidst the scholarly garden. He had longest uninterrupted span as Head, followed by Dr. A.K. Kapoor as Head guiding the department through the corridors of progress.

• Organised CME and WORKSHOP on “PHARMACOVIGILANCE”
• Made “MLNMCAntimicrobial Policy” for MLN Medical College as per MoHFW-GOI and NMC guidelines
• Organised “PHARMATECH 2023” for MBBS 61 batch
• And various extracurricular activities like quiz, poster making, debates etc for both UG & PG
